Good morning, everyone!

This week’s critical vulnerabilities:
  • SolarWinds has released a critical update for five security issues, three of them critical
  • Brick Builder Theme for WordPress has released a patch for a critical flaw under active exploit
  • VMware is urging users to uninstall the VMware Enhanced Authentication Plug-in (EAP) due to critical and high severity vulnerabilities which will not be patched
  • Joomla has released important updates for its Content Management System (CMS) and the Joomla! Framework that affects the CMS

Did your "automatic" updates get installed?

Patch All the Things!

AT&T outage

Thankfully, it was not a cyber attack, just human error:

"AT&T said an “initial review” of the outage found it may have been caused by an error within the company and not a cyberattack."

That's exactly what I heard privately from friends in the industry. Still, it was an impromptu exercise in incident response planning for many of us, eh?

Did you completely lose the ability to contact others in the ways you are accustomed? What did you do? What could you do differently next time?

Many of us rely heavily on our cell phones for both personal and business use. It's a single point of failure -- and we all know that's a bad thing. Take this opportunity to come up with a backup plan.

Remember, you can read past editions of this newsletter on our website, along with tons more information under the Resources tab.

Have a great week!
